How to buy KDA in 2026

Since Kadena LLC wound down in late 2025, the biggest exchanges dropped KDA. You can still buy it in four ways: on a smaller exchange, by bridging USDC to Kadena, on a Kadena DEX, or person to person in escrow. This guide covers each one.

Before you start: a Kadena wallet

Keep KDA in a wallet where you control the keys. The Kadena Community Edition site lists self-custody wallets:

  • eckoWALLET: browser extension and phone app.
  • Linx Wallet: phone app aimed at new users.
  • Zelcore: multi-chain wallet for desktop, phone and browser.
  • Chainweaver: desktop wallet for developers.

Your Kadena account name starts with k: followed by your public key. KDA can sit on any of Kadena's 20 chains under that same name, and wallets show a balance per chain.

1. Buy on an exchange that still lists KDA

As of October 2026, the Kadena Community Edition site lists these exchanges for KDA: Gate.io and AnonKyc. Deposit USDT or another coin they support, buy KDA, then withdraw it to your own k: account. Check which Kadena chain the exchange withdraws to, and send a small test amount first.

Exchanges that no longer list KDA: Binance (withdrawals closed January 12, 2026), OKX and Bybit (delisted in 2025). MEXC has also stopped listing it, and Coinbase never did. Exchange availability depends on where you live and on identity checks, and listings change, so check the current list on kda-chain.org and confirm on the exchange before you deposit.

2. Bridge USDC to Kadena

This is the route the Kadena Community Edition site describes, and the one the Kadena Nexus team uses. It suits larger amounts because you pay Ethereum gas once.

  1. Get USDC on Ethereum into MetaMask. Withdraw USDC from Robinhood or any exchange to your MetaMask address, and keep a little ETH there for gas.
  2. Bridge it to Kadena. Open the Kinesis bridge, connect MetaMask and eckoWALLET, and bridge your USDC. It arrives 1:1 as kb-USDC in eckoWALLET after a few minutes.
  3. Swap kb-USDC for KDA. Use a Kadena DEX such as Mercatus. To spread purchases over time, a community dollar-cost-averaging tool runs on Mercatus; it is third-party, so try it with a separate wallet and a small amount first.

To sell, run the same steps in reverse: swap KDA for kb-USDC, then bridge back to USDC on Ethereum.

3. Swap on a Kadena DEX

If you already hold tokens on Kadena, swap them for KDA on a Kadena DEX listed on the Community Edition site: Mercatus or Brodex. These run on Kadena itself, with no account or identity check, and you pay only small Kadena gas fees in KDA.

4. Buy person to person, in escrow

On the Kadena P2P Marketplace, a seller lists KDA at a price and accepts a payment method: USDT, USDC, Wise or Revolut. The seller's KDA is locked in a Pact escrow contract on chain 1. You pay the seller directly, the seller confirms, and the contract releases the KDA to you. If something goes wrong, the trade can go to a dispute.

New to it? Make a first practice trade with a very small amount, for example between two of your own wallets, to see each step before you trade with someone else.

5. Earn KDA instead

Kadena Earn pays KDA for useful community work: testing new apps, reporting bugs, writing guides and similar tasks. It is a good way to get your first KDA without buying any.

Stay safe

  • Never share your seed phrase or private key. No real admin or support person will message you first.
  • Send a small test amount before any large transfer.
  • Double-check the chain number and the full k: account before you send.
  • Use a separate wallet for third-party tools until you trust them.

Questions people ask

Can I still buy KDA on Binance or Coinbase?

No. Binance moved KDA to withdrawal-only in late 2025 and its withdrawal window closed on January 12, 2026. Coinbase never listed KDA, and OKX and Bybit delisted it in 2025.

Which exchanges list KDA in 2026?
